Introduction
All my works are filled with unspeakable emotion and fantasy brought by art, which is probably the whole explanation I could give for my works. The self narration for art is not so easy, I use painting to express my hope, outlining my longing for future, my understanding about art, my attitude about life, my yearning for a beauty and goodwill, which are already reflected in the image, I hope my works not only bring the audience a beautiful vision, and a warm experience. After graduating from China Academy of Art in 2008, I established my own studio in Chengdu, after a year of thinking and choosing, I stepped on the way as a professional artist in the fall of 2009. At that time my works were mainly acrylic on canvas, I had exhibited and sold nearly 80 pieces of works in a different place in five years, these are valuable experience for me to grow to be an artist, however, the inertia in my creation urged me to innovate and make change, and it became the opportunity. In the fall of 2014, I travelled around in Europe, wishing to find some new inspiration, then I went to France to friend’s exhibition opening by the way, a few days time’s talking to artists and curators inspired me to change a material, trying the idea of ink. I recalled a few years ago watching Huizong's calligraphy in Metropolitan Museum which deeply shocked and moved me, I hope my own creation could be so keen, delicate, and gorgeous. When I came back from Europe, I started to study meticulous ink painting by myself, everything was starting from zero, I was disturbed and excited, the first thing was to learn what was silk, then how to mount the silk over frame, which ink to use, what kind of brush... Half a month later I finished my first piece of colored ink on silk, this horrendous work almost crushed all my confidence. So I started all over again, through careful polishing, I officially completed my first meticulous work on silk-Jade Pendant, a familiar collector then put up this work in the office of company that day.Although the time of self-study is very short, it brought me an important metamophosis, just like going into another world through the fog, I now realize that ink may be a more suitable way for me, a lot of ideas not realized before begin to appear in the new image gradually. Simple and unassuming colors, plain lines, and the reference to classical works have become my tool to express the theme, which could highlight the little sarcastic figure in the image.
Each work of mine is a story, which has a plot, each character I portrait is both solemn and humorous, interpreting the balance and connection between virtual and essence in real life and dream. What the five years of western paintings brought to me, is the completely different ideas and perspectives to many other ink painting artists who have received professional training, I use my own thought to re-read and define the relationship between ink and time, although it is impossible to be comprehensive, it maybe thus constitute a unique visual system of my own.
In September 2015, I was admitted to National Taiwan University of Arts as the only place for Mainland China to study in Painting and Calligraphy Art Institute, life once again became new to me, smooth channels for the exchange of information and free cultural environment will eventually bring new feelings and thoughts to my works.
